What is the Butterfly Effect?

By focusing on education, events about unity and exhibitions mirroring the community,  the Butterfly Community creates the butterfly effect where positive imagery and actions create more positive imagery and actions. We believe in empowering the people by educating not only teens but their families using team building as a tool. We design programming offered for free and at cost depending on the event.

By focusing on education, events promoting unity and exhibitions mirroring the community,  the Butterfly Community creates the butterfly effect where positive imagery and actions create more positive imagery and actions. Our Goals for 2018:
  • 1 (1 week) Teen Teambuilding/Mentorship Camps
  • 6 Events promoting community building (4 workshops and 2 fairs)
  • 2 Community service events
  • 3 Exhibitions
Teen Teambuilding Camps (ages 13-19) free
Skills Built:
  • Collaboration
  • Critical Analysis
  • Creativity
  • Cooperation
Teens will be placed in groups and will have to complete challenges each day. Challenges will be field specific and will involve the expertise of small business owners to judge how well they complete the task. For example, if the day’s challenge is culinary, a chef from the neighborhood will come to present and judge the event that day. The winning team receives points and the session’s winner will have their flag and picture hung in a place TBD. In the end, teens will be matched with business owners from Southside as mentors. This relationship will last one year after the camp and can continue if both the teen and the mentor decide to.

Community Building Events at cost
In 2018 we will host events could such as block parties where business owners offer their services at a cheaper rate or art fairs that express the culture of the Southside. These events focus on the community as a whole working together to accomplish a bigger goal.

Community Service Events free
We will be participating in two community service events per year. The events are all volunteer work and centered around giving back to the community through beautification, cleaning up parks, offering health services for free and helping other small businesses by volunteering our services.
